Award-nominated leadership at Glossop Cartons

We are delighted to announce that our very own Jacky Sidebottom, director at Glossop Cartons, has been shortlisted for this year’s Enterprising Women Awards in the Outstanding Contribution to Business category.

Jacky has been part of the Glossop Cartons family since we began over 30 years ago, working alongside husband Brian to help steer the company from a small start-up business to the innovative, market-leading organisation it is today.

In that time, Jacky has been the woman responsible for spearheading Glossop Cartons’ investment in new and emerging technology, such as the Highcon Euclid, holding a clear vision for ensuring that innovation, quality and service are at the forefront of our offering to meet the ever changing requirements of our customers.  Alongside Brian, who manages the operational side of the business, she has led our company to many industry firsts, from becoming one of the first carton companies to achieve SB 5750 in 1992, to becoming the world’s first to commission the Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine in 2013.

The Enterprising Women Awards recognise successful women in the East Midlands and surrounding areas who run, manage or simply work across a broad range of industries.  Taking place on the 7th March, the awards are a firm fixture of the Enterprising Women Inspire Festival which features inspirational speakers, workshops and networking opportunities for some of the region’s most dedicated women.

We wish you all the luck in the world, Jacky!

Global award recognition for Glossop Cartons & Highcon

Glossop Cartons’ unique elegant wine box, manufactured using the Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine, has won a global award.

The bespoke packaging, which was designed by Glossop Cartons specifically to demonstrate the Highcon Euclid’s exceptional capabilities, wowed the judges of the Worldstar Packaging Awards to be named a winner in the 2013 beverage category.

Judging for the awards took place in Barcelona earlier this year, where the expert panel of judges agreed that Glossop Cartons’ elegant wine box was superior in its category and market and better in its class in execution or innovation by comparison to others.

The judges commented that the elegant wine box demonstrated clearly the creative flexibility of the digital cutting and creasing of the Highcon Euclid, which is why it was considered a winner in its category.

The intricate cut-outs and design features of the box are unique to this revolutionary DART (Digital Adhesive Rule Technology) process, which eliminates the need for a die.  The digital process enables speed to market, supply chain agility, design creativity and on-demand corrections and changes, all of which translate into profitable short – medium run packages.

The award will be presented at Interpack in May 2014.

Glossop Cartons Highly Commended at the MEN Business Awards

Glossop Cartons has been Highly Commended at this year’s Manchester Evening News Business of the Year Awards.

The event, which took place at Manchester’s Midland Hotel in November, saw a number of businesses from various sectors come together to celebrate the best that the region has to offer.

Shortlisted companies were asked to send in a written award entry to show why they should be considered for the award, which was then followed by a presentation and Q&A session with judges.  For its entry, Glossop Cartons demonstrated its innovation and unique service offering over the last 30 years, showcasing how it continues to invest in the technology for the benefit of its customers as seen by it becoming the world’s first to commission the Highcon Euclid digital cutting and creasing machine earlier this year.

Jacky Sidebottom, director at Glossop Cartons, commented: “We were  delighted to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, but never imagined that we’d be highly commended.  The category was extremely tough with some very impressive businesses all vying for acknowledgement, so needless to say we were absolutely thrilled to receive such high praise from the judges.

“Here at Glossop Cartons we’re continuously striving to offer only the best in quality and service for our customers, and that is reflected in our commitment to investing in the latest technology.  I’m very excited about 2014 and beyond, as we’ve got big plans on the horizon.”
